Delos launches Pattern Book

CALHOUN, Ga. — Custom rug house Delos launched its new Pattern Book earlier this month to go along with a new website.

Officials say the new tools enable customers to select the perfect rug from a variety of styles, colors and constructions. The Pattern Book includes 550-plus patterns as well as 216 standard wool pom color offerings. They say customers can send an inspiration for the company to draw up in 48 hours and/or dye-to-match all free-of-charge.

“The word ‘custom’ is no longer a dirty word, as consumers can purchase anything from custom cell phone covers to bicycles,” said Leah Phillips, president and co-founder of Delos. “In the past ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ was coined, but now consumers have the ability to supersede the Joneses based on the amount of customization that has sprung up in recent years.”

Phillips said picking upholstered goods has not typically been thought to fall into the custom category as much as custom area rugs have, because custom area rugs carry the stigma of a longer lead time, higher price and complexity. She said an upholstery customer either starts with a fabric based on color direction or with the actual sofa/chair based on styling, comfort and size. Those same principles were incorporated into Delos’ custom program.

“Ordering upholstered goods surprisingly represents a very similar ordering process to the Delos custom area rug one,” she said.

Phillips also touted Delos’ American-made story, meaning that the custom rugs are sent to the end consumer in a shorter time frame than a custom rug made overseas. She said any difference in price is offset by the quicker delivery time.

“In the recent past, consumers considered budget over craftsmanship. Now the sale price differential between Delos’ American-made and imported products is around 20%, which is very small when delivery is twice as fast,” Phillips said. “As the days progress so will the consumer’s ability to buy custom American-made home furnishings affordably.”
